Oweesta NEW Program Launch: Join Oweesta’s HUD Housing Counseling Network Apply by November 27
First Nations Oweesta Corporation is launching a new housing programming aimed to increase homeownership opportunities for Native communities across the nation. With the support of Wells Fargo and Fannie Mae, Oweesta will begin the process of becoming a HUD Housing Counseling intermediary and support the creation of a HUD Housing Counseling Agency Network serving Native communities.
Oweesta encourages all Native CDFIs and Native nonprofits to apply for this program to that are interested in becoming a HUD Housing Counseling Agency and joining our HUD Housing Counseling Network.
Groups must be:A 501c3 organizationBe committed to becoming a HUD Housing Counseling Agency Have the internal capacity to commit to implementing new programming within operationsProvide at least limited homebuyer readiness or financial education programming within current TA services
Oweesta anticipates recruiting 11 Native CDFIs or Native nonprofits, which would serve as the HUD Housing Counseling network, through a competitive screening process.
Program Participants will receive:$10,000 in operational support to build capacity toward becoming a HUD Housing Counseling AgencyTravel scholarships to attend in-person trainings focused on building capacityIntensive technical assistance focused on meeting early requirements to achieve HUD Housing Counseling Agency certification and long-run requirements
