Enterprise’s Rural and Native American Program is excited to announce this Call for Applications for participation in the Enhancing and Implementing Homeownership Programs in Native Communities training program. This course is designed to build on the Tribal Leaders Handbook on Homeownership developed by the Center for Indian Country Development and Enterprise Community Partners and will enable practitioners to delve into the components of homeownership to determine what assets they already have in place, identify gaps, and outline concrete next steps.
Twenty participants will be selected to participate in the training. The curriculum consists of twelve on-line sessions beginning September 3rd-November 17th that explore:
– Nuts and bolts of homeownership, including needs assessments
– Homebuyer readiness programming
– Available mortgage products and subsidies
– Land processes
– Community planning
– Home design and construction
– Enhancing affordability
The course combines hands-on, participatory activities, small group exercises, and large group discussions.
We are inviting organizations serving Native American communities with a defined mission that includes affordable housing such as Tribes, Tribally Designated Housing Entities,Tribal Housing Authorities, Community Housing Development Organizations, Community Development Corporations and Native Community Development Financial Institutions who are interested in increasing their capacity for to enhance or implement homeownership programs for Native communities.
