Brownfields & Housing: Issues & Opportunities

July 1, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Brownfields & Housing: Issues & Opportunities

Instructor: Eugene Goldfarb, Adjunct Assistant Professor

(UIC & KSU/TAB)

Date: July 1, 2021

Time: 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EST

Training Description:

There is a tendency for tunnel vision in organizations. Staff focus on their program and not realize that other tribal arms can help them better accomplish program objectives. For example, Tribal Response Programs (TRP’s) can help Tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHE’s) perform the required due diligence on properties prior to acquisition as well as help evaluate and clean up contamination (e.g. lead, asbestos, meth). Likewise, TDHE’s can help tribal governments in marshalling resources for brownfield redevelopment.

Training Objectives:

The webinar will:

  • Outline the purpose and functioning of TRP’s and TDHE’s
  • Authority
  • Organization
  • Funding
  • Issues
  • Report on case studies of successful collaboration
  • Suggest ways to get started
